Five aftercare recommendations following Botox facial injections

Botox injections allow patients with mild to moderate signs of aging to address them without expensive and invasive surgery. But what needs to be done after Botox injections? Dr. Andrew Coleman and his team educate patients on what to do as part of their aftercare following Botox facial injections at the office.
- Apply an ice pack or cold compress to the treated area for 15-20 minutes daily. This can reduce swelling and discomfort.
- For the first night after injections, keep your head elevated while sleeping. This will also reduce swelling and promote proper healing.
- Avoid any strenuous exercise and any activities that increase blood flow for at least a day after treatment. This includes activities such as hot yoga, saunas, and heavy lifting.
- Stay hydrated by drinking a lot of water in the days following your Botox injections. This can help flush out toxins and reduce the risk of side effects.
- Avoid rubbing or massaging the area that has been treated for at least 24 hours after treatment. This can cause the Botox to spread to other areas and affect their muscle movement. If the area needs to be touched, use a gentle touch and avoid any pressure or friction. This will help prevent the product from spreading to unintended areas.
How do I maintain Botox results?
It is important to follow up with your doctor after your Botox treatment to ensure proper healing and address any possible concerns or questions you may have. You can expect the results from your Botox injections to last about three to four months, but this varies greatly depending on various factors, such as the specific dose received and the individual patient’s metabolism. To keep the face youthful and rested, we recommend scheduling touch-up appointments every few months.
